I have made a couple attempts at a blog, but can't seem to get in the swing of things and take a liking to it. With most family and friends far away - I'm going to give it another shot.
A little backgrounder on the past year:
The past year has been a whirl wind for us! We got married last December, bought our first home in South City, got a Great Dane puppy (who is now 120lbs), started jobs, gotten laid off from jobs (Ok- thats just me.... Dan thankfully has great job security working with the City!), and have gotten pregnant with our first child!! I got laid off from my job as marketing coordinator at Conrad Properties at the end of October. I absolutely loved that job, the people I worked with, and the company - but working for a real estate development firm in the midst of the struggling economy isn't a recipe for job security. Therefore, I have been home playing the role of "Susie Homemaker" and getting the house ready for our little baby girl!
Dan has taken the leap and starts graduate school next month! :) He is going back for his masters in Human Resource Management, and will complete his MBA at a slower pace after that. I am so proud of him for taking that step to further his career and to challenge himself! Its going to be an exciting and hectic new year! We are so blessed :)
The present:
I have got a load of laundry going and just made some fantastic iced tea! After signing some (OK- a lot) of paperwork to finalize our refinance of our home, I am going to take Addie for a walk in the park. Its beautiful outside and not too cold, so it will be nice to rid her of some energy and to get myself out for some exercise (keeping up regular exercise is harder than you'd think when you're so exhausted from being five months pregnant!!). Brea, who I worked with at Conrad, is coming over for dinner tonight with her little girl Lauren - it will be so nice to see them!
Its my goal to try to blog a couple times a week whether it be about something silly and mundane or about significant moments in our lives. Until then....
