Michigan Holiday

Yesterday we returned from a great trip to Michigan for Thanksgiving! We left last Wednesday evening after work and got in around 3am (EST). Our poor little girl started with a pretty bad cold Wednesday afternoon and wasn't feeling well the whole weekend, but handled it like a champ! Thursday we had the Detroit family over for Thanksgiving dinner. It was wonderful to see everyone and to get to spend time with family we don't get the chance to see often. Savannah and I (who also started feeling less than healthy) took a great nap before everyone showed up, so we were ready and rested for the day when it started!

Friday was spent relaxing, sleeping, , watching sports, and (surprise!) spending time with MY grandpa and grandma :) I got a call in the early afternoon from my grandpa saying he was in the Lansing area. They were visiting Grandma Roberta's family and had stopped through Lansing. So.... we packed up the kiddo and headed to Lansing (roughly 20 minutes north of the town Dan's parents live in) and had lunch with them. That was such a special surprise!!! After that Dan's parents met up with us for a little late afternoon shopping at Baby Gap where we outfitted Savannah with some more winter clothes (12-18 months! YIKES! When did my child get so big?!) and Banana Republic where they had buy one cashmere sweater get one free. Yes, please. After said retail damage, Gma and Gpa Olson took Savannah home with them and which allowed Dan and I to have a date night!! We went to an Irish pub for some appetizers and drinks then went to see Couples Retreat afterward!

Saturday we went to Detroit. We stopped in Crate and Barrel so Dan and I could order our new couches (say WHAT?!) and rugs for the house!!!!! I can't wait for them to be delivered!!! After that (serious) damage, we went to our Aunt Sherry and Uncle Brian's for a fantastic Green Lantern sub dinner and more time with family :)

We ended up leaving early Sunday morning as opposed to driving through the night because of us all feeling under the weather. Savannah hadn't slept through the night once the whole weekend. She would cough and her sore throat would wake her up every time. We figured it was best to get us all home early and rest up before the work week.

Well, Savannah has gotten better. The critter is still dealing with a bit of a stuffy nose, but is
feeling a little better. Mama has gotten worse. I stayed home from work today and am leaning toward staying home again tomorrow. I'm downing the vitamin C and trying to rest as much as possible (this blogging adventure is the most energy I've exerted all day). My good friend, Stacey, is feeling pretty punky as well...... we both have to get better.... and not get our husbands sick.... because we need to be feeling good for our Chicago trip this weekend!!!!

(you can't see me... but I'm doing my "healthy dance".... lets hope it works....)
