Ooooh to have a weekend away with great friends and a WONDERFUL husband!!!! :) Our trip to Chicago was short, but so great. We met Stacey and Pat at their house Friday evening, left for the Chi-town and arrived at our GORGEOUS (nice find, Stace!) hotel around midnight.
Saturday we all got moving around 10am, hit Caribou for some coffee, and started down Michigan for some shopping. Of course Stacey and I found a super unique jewelry shop just as we started and spent lots of time in there right off the bat! The guys were wonderful and patient the entire time :) The rest of the day was spent shopping up and down Michigan Avenue with a break for lunch at an under ground tavern (Mmmm bar food!). It was such a great day of spaving (spending and saving at the same time), dancing to Gwen Stefani in the middle of stores, singing Christmas carols, taking fun photos at "the bean", and enjoying love and friendship. To culminate the day we celebrated with a yummy dinner out on the town for Dan and my second anniversary, then headed back to the hotel to play Whoonu at the hotel until after midnight. GREAT DAY!!
Sunday morning the guys hung out together while Stacey and I made a girls trip to the art museum!! Chicago has a fantastic art museum!!!! We chose which galleries we really wanted to hit and soaked it up. The boys picked us up outside when we were through and we hit the road back to St. Louis!
I was/am so thankful for the weekend away. The weekend for my brain to take a vacation. Two wonderful years with my unbelievably wonderful husband. Two very dear friends, whom I love dearly, whom we got to build memories with. And for Chicago in the winter time and how it makes truly gives you a sense of Christmas spirit. And of course, last but not least, for the movie Elf. And all the quotable lines that were so applicable to so many moments of the weekend.
